Natalie and John were married this weekend in the Sacramento wine country near the town of Jackson. The beautiful woods and sweeping view at the residence made a great location for their outdoor evening ceremony and night-time reception.
You may recall that I did an engagement session with Natalie and John last November. I learned back then what they were planning for their wedding – it was exciting to see it all come together!
I thought I’d do something different for this blog post. Instead of highlighting ten or so images, I thought I’d tell a mini-version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. It’s a very abbreviated story of their day – just a small fraction of all their images – starting from the beginning to the last photo of their wedding coverage.
Before we start, let’s meet Natalie and John!

We started with Natalie and her bridesmaids having some fun before the ceremony.

The house had a great jukebox!

The guys were having fun before the ceremony, too, of course!

Now, the ceremony is about to start – we really did a fast-forward in time!

They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

The first kiss!

After the ceremony, we got photos of the bridal party all together. Don’t they make great zombies!

While the guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks, Natalie, John and I went off for a little while and took bride-and-groom photos.

The last shot we got before the reception was Natalie and John showing their wedding rings.

Now we’ll really fast-forward for the sake of the story – skipping most of the reception, the toasts, and lots of photos – all the way to the first dance. It was a beautiful night outdoors.

Finally, we’ll skip one more time to the end of the evening. John and Natalie, husband and wife, share a moment away from the reception.

So, that’s a very abbreviated version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. I hope you enjoyed it!

For Nicole and Sean’s after session we picked two beautiful Sacramento parks – McKinley Park, with its rose garden, and the luscious Capitol Park.
Meet Nicole and Sean!

The roses were in full bloom!

I just love this image of Nicole and Sean on the Sacramento Capitol steps!

The theme yesterday for Nicole and Nick’s after session was urban bride and groom! We chose downtown Sacramento as our backdrop for a fun shoot on a beautiful spring day.
Meet Nicole and Nick!

We started at a central location and walked around, looking for urban backdrops to match our theme. This next bride and groom image was taken right off the sidewalk where a side yard is blocked off by this cool iron fence.

This next set of photos were taken a few blocks away. We loved the beautiful light we found and the concrete backgrounds.

Nicole’s dress is beautiful! Check out the detailing!

We walked all over and took a lot more photos than I have room for here. We finished up across the street from where we started.

It was raining cats and dogs on Easter Day in Sacramento! That’s the day Tyreina and Fred had scheduled for their bride and groom after-wedding photo session – but we wisely moved it out a week – and we ended up with perfect weather!
Tyreina and Fred wanted an urban feel to their photos, so I picked an area with lots of shops and lofts near L Street and 18th as a starting point. These next eleven images were all taken in about a three block area. There is so much going on in a city and so many different backgrounds for a shoot!
The image on the left with the old-world feel was taken at the St. John’s Lutheran Chuch and the image on the right with the vibrant colors was taken on the same block.
Meet Tyreina and Fred!

We had to get a photo in front of this colorful mural!

Tyreina and Fred are a lot of fun!!

The rest of these photos were taken downtown Sacramento about a mile from our original spot.
I love their connection! And, Tyreina’s wedding dress is gorgeous!

It’s an awesome thing that I get to meet and photograph couples from all over the world. Part of it comes from living near a major international university, part of it comes from being a wedding photographer in a part of California rich with diversity, and part of it is probably just luck! And I am lucky, since I love to meet people from all over – it’s great! In just the last year, couples have shared their galleries with family and friends in Russia, India, Pakistan, England, China, Taiwan, Poland, Germany, Brazil, Ghana, Canada, and all over the US.
So, when I went shopping for an online wedding gallery and print ordering solution a few years ago, one thing I insisted on was that no matter where in the world my couples’ family and friends are located, their family and friends could order prints for direct shipment. In today’s world a bride and groom shouldn’t have to do any extra work to share prints with their family, no matter where they are at.
Other requirements were that the printing was absolutely top quality and the customer service fantastic. Further, the user experience had to be intuitive so that any friend or family member, regardless of their familiarity with computers, could view and enjoy a couple’s wedding and engagement photos – and if they wanted to order something – the ordering had to be simple to accomplish.
That all turned out to be a tall order!! Most solutions fell apart in one or more categories and few offered international ordering. But I kept looking and finally found a great place last year that has it all – a first-class pro lab, an intuitive user experience, great customer service, and the ability to place and fulfill orders anywhere!
I’ve been using it for a year now and it’s been great for couples. So, no matter where your family and friends are located:
Rome…

Tongli China…

or even Sacramento…

…your friends and family can enjoy your images and, if they love an image, they can order their own prints and you don’t have to do a bit of work to get their prints to them!
