photo shoot

I had such a great time on my recent bridal fashion shoot!! I love going on location! It’s so much fun to get out and shoot in interesting spots!

I’m a little fickle, though, because I love shooting indoors, too!! On this shoot with model Oceana and makeup artist Ingrid, before we went outside, we also did some very nice interior work at a house. Just a regular house, no special lights or set – instead using beautiful, natural light near windows and doors.

This slide show starts with a number of shots indoors, with model Oceana bathed in great sunlight from an open window. Some of the shots look similar, but Oceana’s expression is different in each. I really love those subtle differences and want to share them with you! I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Here is more from my shoot with Oceana.

Our concept for this shoot was bridal fashion. We were so excited about trying some exterior location shots! The threat of rain had us biting our nails (well, me anyway). The weather turned out to be cold and clear – perfect for outdoor shots near the river in Old Sacramento!

This first shot really brings the whole concept together.

The model in this shoot is the beautiful Oceana. This shot also captures the essence of the shoot, and in slightly different, almost softer way.

I love this shot of the bride alone near the train. Oceana did such a great job on this shoot!

Makeup for this shoot was done by the fabulous Ingrid. For this outfit she gave us edgy eyes and lips that really went great with the outfit and caught the look we wanted.

Most of this shoot took place on location in Old Sacramento, but we also got some interior shots in Davis. I just loved the natural light coming in the window near this red wall and wanted to take advantage of it!

One of the tour boats was pulling out when we were near the river. Ken Swanson did a great job lighting this shot and on the whole shoot. Can you tell we used a flash along with the sun?

We had two looks for this shoot. Here we have an almost classical Roman or Greek look. The flower, hair and makeup were all tuned for this more classical look with the long, flowing dress. This soft window light captures the soft fabric of Oceana’s outfit. I love her expression. We got a series of these shots near the window. They are all great. I’ll post the rest in a slide show later this week.

Back to Old Sacramento. Isn’t Oceana great! I just love this last shot!

I will post a slide show of the rest of the shoot later in the week.

I keep thinking back on what a great time we all had on the recent High-Glam Shoot in Davis. We had so much fun! What a great team to work with!

The concept was high glamour with a fashion feel. We wanted studio, indoor location, and exterior location shots. We were going for a variety of looks tied to the concept.

After the studio and indoor shoot we headed downtown Davis for some outdoor shots. We made the most of locations right downtown Davis: the train station, a red wall in a parking lot, a old phone booth transplanted from the UK.

When we wrapped up downtown it was pretty hot, but the whole team was excited about trying one more concept. So we headed out to a local airport. We were all glad we did!

Here is more from my shoot with the talented and versatile model Shann Lynn.

Our concept was high glamour with a fashion feel. We did a marathon shoot with three locations, sixteen different setups and several story lines in half a day. Here’s a first peek. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

This shot captures the essence of the concept. Glamour, a woman ready for an evening, mystery.

The model in this shoot is the lovely, talented Shann Lynn. Shann is a fantastic person to work with – fun, energetic, versatile, and full of ideas.

We were fortunate to have makeup artist Mizz O on this shoot. Mizz O’s artistry blew me away

One of our story lines was our woman leaving town on the train. We went to the local train station and found some great places that fit with our story.

It was almost 100 degrees that day, and the air-conditioned waiting room of the train station was so inviting. But that particular waiting room wouldn’t have matched our look. The exterior of the station was a perfect waiting area.

The train finally arrived and our woman is about to board.

We were excited that a train came through while were shooting. The train was moving pretty fast and blowing Shann’s hair around.

I’ll close this post with another of my favorites from the indoor sessions.

I’ll post more when the rest of the shoot is processed.

What a great shoot with great, talented people!

I am so lucky!!
