It’s not a secret – I love weddings! And I love engagement sessions. And I love meeting people. I’m always excited to meet a new couple and I was really looking forward to my engagement session with Melissa and Jesse.
Meet Jesse and Melissa!
You probably know the way I do engagement sessions is to walk around with a couple and look for great light and interesting backdrops. Well, we sort of do some talking, too – like a lot of talking and getting to know each other and hanging out while we walk around shooting. This next photo of Melissa was taken in a spot I hadn’t been to before – I’d been in the area, but not that spot. I love the way the light accents Melissa’s gorgeous eyes and face!

There’s a story behind this next shot with Jesse, too. I noticed this chair next to a bike trail in Davis. It was just begging to be used in a few shots!

It was actually sort of cold, so in the next couple of shots you’ll see Melissa and Jesse bundled up.

It was getting pretty dark and we thought we were through shooting. Then we ran across this string of lights in trees and just had to get one more image!

I had a great time with a great couple yesterday!!!
Natalie, John, and I met up yesterday for their engagement session. I’ve been looking forward to it ever since Natalie emailed me to set it up and we started chatting in email. I just knew I was going to have a great time walking around Davis with them!!
The first shot was taken at the Redwood Grove at the UC Davis Arboretum. It could be somewhere in the Sierra! These next few shots were taken downtown Davis.

We were shooting in front of this brick wall and it made me think of a DKNY ad. So, I asked John and Natalie to don serious expressions for our own interpretation of an ad. Of course, we were having fun so asking them to look serious just made us all start laughing. After a few more laughs we got serious for a minute – I think they really pulled off the look!
Apparently a local theater group had been rehearsing at this next location. There were signs everywhere telling us to watch out for sword fights! No swords…
…kisses instead.
Natalie and John are adorable!
John and Natalie were up for all the different concepts we tried.

Natalie and John wanted some shots near a brick wall – we found two of them on our walk!
I really liked this metal wall we found when we went exploring Davis in a direction I hadn’t gone before.

Now we are at a different part of the UC Davis Arboretum.

I have so many favorites from my engagement session shoot with Jessica and Nathan, I couldn’t fit them all into one blog entry! I thought I’d add the rest of the photos to the ones I posted already and make a slide show. Here’s my collection of favorite picks from Jessica and Nathan’s Davis CA engagement photography session!
