Natalie and John were married this weekend in the Sacramento wine country near the town of Jackson. The beautiful woods and sweeping view at the residence made a great location for their outdoor evening ceremony and night-time reception.
You may recall that I did an engagement session with Natalie and John last November. I learned back then what they were planning for their wedding – it was exciting to see it all come together!
I thought I’d do something different for this blog post. Instead of highlighting ten or so images, I thought I’d tell a mini-version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. It’s a very abbreviated story of their day – just a small fraction of all their images – starting from the beginning to the last photo of their wedding coverage.
Before we start, let’s meet Natalie and John!

We started with Natalie and her bridesmaids having some fun before the ceremony.

The house had a great jukebox!

The guys were having fun before the ceremony, too, of course!

Now, the ceremony is about to start – we really did a fast-forward in time!

They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

The first kiss!

After the ceremony, we got photos of the bridal party all together. Don’t they make great zombies!

While the guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks, Natalie, John and I went off for a little while and took bride-and-groom photos.

The last shot we got before the reception was Natalie and John showing their wedding rings.

Now we’ll really fast-forward for the sake of the story – skipping most of the reception, the toasts, and lots of photos – all the way to the first dance. It was a beautiful night outdoors.

Finally, we’ll skip one more time to the end of the evening. John and Natalie, husband and wife, share a moment away from the reception.

So, that’s a very abbreviated version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. I hope you enjoyed it!

I was triply excited about shooting Jamie and Rick’s July 3, 2009, wedding at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. First, Jamie and Rick are an absolutely fun, fantastic couple and I knew it would be great to work with them! Second, I went to college in Berkeley and once lived not too far from the Brazilian room – I love it up there! Third, the fourth of July is my absolute favorite holiday! What could be better than to start off my favorite holiday than shooting a wedding with a fantastic couple in a place I love!!
Jamie and Rick – right after they became Mr. & Mrs.

Of course, a few things happened before the ceremony. So, let’s rewind a bit.
If you recognize the skyline in this photo, you’ll know it’s not Berkeley! Jamie and Rick got ready in San Francisco, and the story starts there.

Jamie’s dress was gorgeous!

Jamie’s room at the St. Francis was great for getting ready and for taking photos of her bridesmaids helping her.

Now, we’ve crossed the Bay and we are in Berkeley. The bridesmaids are all beautiful and tons of fun. Everyone I met at Jamie and Rick’s wedding was lots of fun! A fourth reason to look forward to their wedding!

Rick. When we took this photo, we were waiting for the girls to arrive in Berkeley.

What a great location for their ceremony!

This was taken right after they became husband and wife. I love their connection.

Their reception was great! Karen Zachary from Miraglia Catering did a beautiful job!

When I took this photo I was concentrating on capturing the moment, not food. But now that I look at their fantastically great looking cakes, I’m getting hungry for cakes – these cakes!!

Beautiful!

The Brazilian Room is beautiful by day and at night. After I took this photo, I turned around and in the middle of the meadow behind the ceremony location, now bathed in fog, a deer was grazing.

At the end of the evening, after a fantastic party and dancing, we slipped out to take a few night photos.

Jamie and Rick, thanks for letting me share your day!!
