It was a gorgeous fall-like day in the middle of the normally hot month of August when Gaby, Edgar and I met up in Old Sacramento for their engagement session.
Meet Edgar and Gaby!

Gaby and Edgar wanted an interesting location for their engagement photos that offered variety and was near downtown Sacramento. We talked about a bunch of possibilities – their choice of Old Sacramento is one of my favorites. Old Sacramento has industrial locations like the one above, trains, lots of action, and an Old West feel – all within a few blocks!

There’s this great hidden courtyard below street level that was perfect for a number of concepts! We were having fun at this fountain.

And the brick walls enclosing the courtyard made great backdrops.

Gaby and Edgar inspired me to do something with this caboose. Here’s one of the concepts we did there.

As the sun started to set, we went down to the floating dock that runs the length of the waterfront on the Sacramento River to get some photos near the water.

I had a blast shooting with Gaby and Edgar. I can’t wait for their wedding!

Yvette and Josh were married at the Wild Wings golf and airport community in Woodland CA. It’s a great wedding location with Northern California countryside surrounding it and it’s right in the middle of a scenic wetlands area. Add lots of really nice people and as you can see from their photos – everyone had a great time celebrating with Yvette and Josh!
Meet Josh and Yvette!

Yvette and Josh’s wedding details connected with birds and the wetlands, the beautiful colors of a Northern California summer and the natural surroundings.

I love the details in Yvette’s wedding dress and the colors in her bouquet.

After the ceremony we went to the nearby wetlands for a bridal party shoot.

I was totally excited when Yvette and her dad did a salsa father-daughter dance! How fun!

Congratulations Yvette and Josh!!

Nicole and Sean picked Auburn for their engagement photo session. Auburn is a great town in the California gold country with a rich history and a variety of architecture ranging from 1800’s gold rush buildings to contemporary structures. It’s also one of Nicole and Sean’s favorite haunts!
Meet Sean and Nicole!

Nicole and Sean at the Auburn Alehouse.

We had a lot of fun exploring the Auburn area.
I really love their connection!

You may recall that I love taking photos of doors. I’ve posted images of doors in Europe. Nicole loves doors, too!
Here’s Nicole and Sean in front of a great rusty door in Auburn.

Right next to the rusty door there’s this great cast iron staircase.

It was great exploring Auburn with Nicole and Sean! I can’t wait for their Grass Valley wedding!!

Dana, Dennis and I met up for their totally fun engagement session at Jack London Square in Oakland.
We started their engagement shoot at the palm tree area right in Jack London Square. The weather was beautiful and the Square was great!

Right nearby there’s a floating pier surrounded by yachts.

Then we went exploring and looking for locations. Here are Dennis and Dana on a patio at Jack London Square.

This cool fountain is right next to the patio.

I love how we got lots of different looks – and all the photos were taken within a few blocks near Jack London Square.
Dana and Dennis’ engagement was lots of fun! I can’t wait for their wedding!!

Natalie and John were married this weekend in the Sacramento wine country near the town of Jackson. The beautiful woods and sweeping view at the residence made a great location for their outdoor evening ceremony and night-time reception.
You may recall that I did an engagement session with Natalie and John last November. I learned back then what they were planning for their wedding – it was exciting to see it all come together!
I thought I’d do something different for this blog post. Instead of highlighting ten or so images, I thought I’d tell a mini-version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. It’s a very abbreviated story of their day – just a small fraction of all their images – starting from the beginning to the last photo of their wedding coverage.
Before we start, let’s meet Natalie and John!

We started with Natalie and her bridesmaids having some fun before the ceremony.

The house had a great jukebox!

The guys were having fun before the ceremony, too, of course!

Now, the ceremony is about to start – we really did a fast-forward in time!

They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

The first kiss!

After the ceremony, we got photos of the bridal party all together. Don’t they make great zombies!

While the guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks, Natalie, John and I went off for a little while and took bride-and-groom photos.

The last shot we got before the reception was Natalie and John showing their wedding rings.

Now we’ll really fast-forward for the sake of the story – skipping most of the reception, the toasts, and lots of photos – all the way to the first dance. It was a beautiful night outdoors.

Finally, we’ll skip one more time to the end of the evening. John and Natalie, husband and wife, share a moment away from the reception.

So, that’s a very abbreviated version of Natalie and John’s wedding story. I hope you enjoyed it!
